Let us introduce ourselves
Chris and Liezel have been living in Surrey since the summer of 1994 with their son, Julian. For more than ten years we ran a large mixed dental practice in Egham which we sold in 2006. We then enjoyed a gap year during which we spent quality family time with Julian and completed advanced dental courses in periodontology (the study of the supporting structures of teeth and diseases and conditions that affect them) and endodontics (the study and expertise related to the inside of the tooth).
Chris van Gelderen BChD
I qualified from the University of Pretoria and received my BChD in 1985 with distinctions in prosthetics and oral surgery. Over the years I have developed a keen interest in crown and bridge work. I also enjoy all aspects of cosmetic dentistry and find that I have become popular with the more nervous and anxious clients who talk about my caring and gentle approach.
Having spent my childhood in South Africa I enjoy everything that has to do with the outdoors, particularly gardening, golf, tennis, swimming and skiing .
Liezel Oberholzer BChD
I also studied at the University of Pretoria where I received my BChD in 1994 with distinctions in prosthetics and restorative dentistry, community dentistry and radiology. I enjoy all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry and find treating children very enjoyable and rewarding. Like Chris, I am committed to continuing professional development and education and regularly attend dental courses to keep my knowledge and skills up to date.
When time allows, I enjoy gardening, tennis, skiing, reading and step aerobics.
Jenny Watson, NEBDN
I qualified as a dental nurse in 2003 and worked for Chris and Liezel for the next 4 years. In 2005 I returned to college to gain my teaching certificate to enable me to teach Dental Nursing at West Thames College in Isleworth. Alongside this I spent 2 years working part time and gaining valuable experience in Orthodontics.
Before re-joining Chris and Liezel at the new practice at Glebe House, I have enjoyed working in a private practice specialising in cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery.
I am married to a wonderful husband and have two fabulous boys and a daughter-in-law - I enjoy my busy family life! I also love going to the theatre, travelling and anything "Art Deco".
Fiona Lehrman, Receptionist
Dentistry has been my career for the past 26 years including 14 years working and managing my husband's dental practice. When my husband retired we had a break of four years when we went to Canada.
I have known Chris and Liezel for the past 15 years, both socially and professionally and when we returned from Canada in 2001 I started working for them as their receptionist at their practice in Egham.
My interests include playing golf, skiing, gardening and walking Tilly, our Norfolk Terrier who also enjoys being on the golf course with us.
